2RODE: urban writing, the heritage of French graffiti

Since the late 1980s, 2RODE has established himself as one of the most singular graffiti artists on the French scene. Born in 1974 and introduced to urban aesthetics at an early age, he discovered graffiti at a time when street art had not yet acquired the legitimacy it enjoys today. The wall was then a territory of experimentation, a space of total freedom, a surface of raw expression where a visual language specific to a generation was invented.

The beginnings of an artist shaped by the street

From 1988, when he was still a teenager, 2RODE explored the wastelands, railroads, industrial wastelands and walls that make up the urban landscape of the Paris region. For him, graffiti became a vital means of expression. The city offers him an open-air studio, a field for the study of movement, typography and color. It was here that he forged his identity, influenced by the pioneers who marked the founding years of the street french art.

An instantly recognizable style

2RODE's work is distinguished by a rare combination of spontaneous energy and compositional control. His work rests on three fundamental pillars:
The letter, which is his preferred playground. For him, lettering is not a simple graphic assembly, but an expressive architecture. He masters its volumes, angles and tensions.
The color, used with intensity and precision. Its bold, often contrasting hues reflect a desire to give movement and depth to space.
The rhythm, each of his creations is inspired by gesture, the impulsiveness of spray and a search for dynamism.

His signature style combines strength, speed and rigor. This constant dialogue between freedom of gesture and thoughtful construction gives 2RODE's work an immediate visual impact.

The street as training, the workshop as extension

Over time, the artist has extended his work beyond urban spaces. Without ever denying his graffiti origins, he transposed his skills to more permanent formats: canvases, panels, assemblages, graphic compositions on a variety of supports. This evolution does not transform his identity, but rather magnifies it.

In his studio work, we find the power of the wall, but also a new sense of detail, material and plastic construction. Each piece is conceived as an extension of his urban experience, a fragment of wall reinvented, transposed and sublimated.

A work that bears witness to the history of the street french art

More than just a graffiti artist, 2RODE is an active witness to the evolution of graffiti in France. He belongs to the generation that helped transform an act of clandestine expression into a recognized artistic language. Through his frescoes and gallery works, he recounts the trajectory of a movement that went beyond the street to engage in dialogue with the contemporary art world.

A powerful aesthetic, serving a vision

The whole of 2RODE's work is permeated by a fertile tension between two universes:
that of raw, instinctive expression, free of all constraints,
and that of thoughtful, structured, almost architectural creation.

It's this duality that shapes the artist's identity. In his letters, volumes and colors, we find the original spontaneity of spray, but also a search for accuracy and visual coherence.

An artistic commitment spanning several decades

For over thirty years, 2RODE has pursued a sincere and demanding approach. He has never stopped exploring, painting, researching and renewing his relationship with walls and supports. His path is that of an artist faithful to the spirit of graffiti, but aware of its artistic potential beyond the urban framework.

Even today, his works capture attention with their intensity, presence and depth. They embody an enduring vision of urban art, a dialogue between past, present and future street french art.

2RODE: a creator of energy, a builder of images

2RODE's work has a rare strength. Each piece bears witness to a personal and collective history. Each gesture recalls the creative urgency of his beginnings. Each composition affirms the maturity of an artist who has fully mastered his language.
To own a work by 2RODE is to embrace a part of the history of French graffiti, an aesthetic shaped by decades of creation and a vision deeply rooted in contemporary urban culture.
