Paul Szasz was born in 1912 in Budapest. At a certain point in his life, he left Hungary to settle in Paris in 1948, he then moved to France, where he became part of the art scene and began to work on his own style. During his early years in France, his paintings show the influence of fauvism and theexpressionism, his work is a testimony to his attachment to vivid color, free pictorial gesture and expressive sensitivity. 

Until 1954, these influences dominate his work. He then turned to non-figurative then to an abstract style, which he claims to be "abstraction with a colorful sensibility, his work is marked by compositions inspired by nature, emotions and intuition. His frequent travels, particularly to the Balearic Islands, according to some sources, seem to have nurtured this colorful palette and formal freedom. 

During the 1960s, Paul Szasz exhibited several times in Paris, notably in avant-garde and modern galleries. His abstract compositions are characterized by a sense of balance, chromatic richness and assertive personal expression. The works of this period testify to a sincere plastic research, where color, form and rhythm merge to create a painting of atmosphere rather than representation. 

The artist does not hesitate to return to more sober palettes from time to time, including works in black and white at certain periods, indicating an ongoing exploration of form, light and contrast. This stylistic instability illustrates the quest for his own language, with no concessions to fashions, between figuration and abstraction. 

On his death in 1970, paul Szasz left a varied body of work, some figurative, some abstract. His work, still present on the art market today, reveals an artist engaged in constant research, sensitive to color, gesture and the inner resonance of painting.
