Champagne Pommery: the elegance of Reims and the visionary spirit of Madame Pommery

Founded in 1858, Pommery has established itself as one of the most influential houses in the history of Champagne. Its rise is intimately linked to the audacity of Madame Louise Pommery, the key figure who transformed the house into a model of exacting standards, modernity and elegance. At a time when champagne was predominantly sweet, she imposed a new style, fresh and structured, which paved the way for the modern taste of brut.

Madame Pommery, pioneer of modernity

On the death of her husband, Louise Pommery took over sole management of the company. With remarkable vision, she set about revolutionizing production. Her intuition led her to create in 1874 the first brut champagne to be marketed on a large scale, a real turning point in the history of wine. She also imposed a singular architectural approach by converting the Gallo-Roman chalk pits of Reims into ageing cellars, creating an optimal environment for maturing the wines.

An unmistakable style

The Pommery style is based on finesse, freshness and balance. The wines express precise tension, discreet elegance and delicate aromas. Their identity is characterized by: a fine, regular effervescence, a light but assertive structure, aromas of citrus fruit, white flowers and ripe fruit, a pure and harmonious finish, marked by the minerality of the chalky soils.

This style reflects a perfect mastery of blending and a know how inherited of over a century and a half of excellence.

Les crayères, the underground cathedrals of Champagne

One of the house's hallmarks is its historic crayères, former chalk quarries transformed into monumental cellars. These deep galleries provide constant hygrometry and temperature, guaranteeing slow, controlled maturation of the champagnes. Their impressive architecture is an integral part of Pommery's heritage, combining history, culture and technology.

A company committed to creativity

Over the decades, Pommery has established itself as a house open to the world and contemporary creation. The estate regularly hosts exhibitions, art installations and collaborations that testify to this desire to link wine, culture and innovation. This cultural dimension reinforces the aura of the house and its unique positioning in the Champagne world.

An emblematic range

Pommery offers a collection of cuvées that reflect its identity and its know how. It includes :
brut Royal, the most faithful expression of the house style,
cuvées Millésimées, created in exceptional years; the Louise collection, a tribute to its founder and a summit of finesse; special editions and experimental cuvées that bear witness to the pioneering spirit of the House.

Each bottle illustrates Pommery's commitment to precision and harmony.

A living legacy

Today, Pommery remains one of the leading names in champagne. Its reputation is built on the consistency of its style, the quality of its vineyards, its mastery of winemaking and a unique vision inherited from Madame Pommery. Its champagnes embody timeless elegance, both classic and contemporary.

Choosing a Pommery champagne means adopting a refined expression of Champagne, supported by a know how and a strong sense of innovation.
