La Maison Odiot has its origins in XVIIᵉ century, he was one of a line of Parisian silversmiths whose reputation gradually grew thanks to a solid technical mastery and a precise understanding of the tastes of their time. The dynasty followed in the tradition of French silversmithing, marked by rigorous forms, quality alloys and attention to decorative balance. This family continuity culminated in Jean-Baptiste-Claude Odiot (1763-1850), an emblematic figure of the company and one of the major goldsmiths of the first Empire.

Under his leadership, Odiot became one of the most sought-after workshops of its time. The silversmith received major official commissions, notably for the imperial court, and was involved in the production of pieces for tableware, ceremonies and large ceremonial ensembles. The firm was renowned for its sophisticated use of silver and vermeil, often combined with forms inspired by Antiquity, in keeping with the stylistic language of the empire style. The applied sculptures, figurative handles and beaded or foliate borders all bear witness to a decorative vocabulary inspired by archaeological references and neoclassical aesthetics.

In addition to the imperial commissions, the company continued to develop its business with leading European families, foreign courts and prestigious institutions. Each work produced in the studio Odiot is characterised by precision of design, mastery of chasing and a balance between monumentality and refinement. The company also adapted to changes in taste over the course of the XIXᵉ century, incorporating lighter motifs and shapes adapted to new uses while preserving the principles that had founded its reputation.

The family tradition ensures the continuity of know-how and enables Odiot to maintain the highest standards. Successive generations have preserved the archives, models and techniques that have enabled the company to achieve its status. Its creations, made in the spirit of the great French craft traditions, now feature in private collections, museums and institutions that recognise their importance in the history of goldsmithing.

Emblematic house of French silverware, Odiot remains associated with an aesthetic that combines technical virtuosity, rigorous design and the ability to interact with the dominant styles of each period. His work, which comes from a line of silversmiths that goes back several centuries, is an essential part of France's decorative heritage.
