Great Clock, Style Louis XVI, 19th Century
This large pendulum is distinguished by the fine performance of its decoration and the quality of its barley gilding.
Dedicated to Music and Nature, the clock is illustrated in part low by a bas-relief allegory of music and swollen with an urn from which four flower garlands emerge.
Elsewhere this theme comes in a rich variety of motifs: linen, flower garlands, quiver and acanthes leaves... The details abound by the grace of an excellent scissor enhanced by a matt and shiny gilding.
The Maison Marquis was registered in 1844 in the register of the confrerie of the Meeting of Bronze Manufacturers of the City of Paris. From 1860 they joined forces with Languereau for watchmaking, which will be presented at the universal exhibition of 1889.
