Pierre Vandel was born in 1939 he grew up in Roubaix, in an industrial environment that influenced his relationship with materials and construction from the outset. Trained in industrial design and drawing techniques, in the 1960s he developed a taste for furniture design. At the end of that decade, he created his own label and launched the first pieces that would define his style. 

His work expanded considerably during the 1970s, during this period, he developed a visual language based on the association of steel structures, of smoked glass trays, of transparent Plexiglas and brass finishes. This combined use of industrial and decorative materials allows his furniture to play on reflections, transparencies and contrasts. Geometric shapes, straight lines and structural clarity become recurring elements of his creative identity.
